Ahangama

Ahangama is a small village in Southern province of Sri Lanka. The area is home to the most consistent, and possibly the best, surf in Sri Lanka. The shoreline consists of slim sandy bays and rocky outcrops. It is still largely undeveloped and off the beaten path, home mostly to travellers wanting to learn how to surf rather than regular tourists. Most of the time you will eat and chill out at the surf camp you are staying in.

Ahangama has a wide range of breaks for both beginners and experienced surfers. From sandy secluded beaches to the renowned break 'The Rock' at Kabalanas or the ever more popular beach break of Weligama 10 minutes down the coast. Just south of the Ahangama fishing poles is Rajith Surf Point, a classic intermediate reef break with 350 rides!

Situated close to the tip of the South, it is a convenient distance from the famous tourist sites in Galle, Kandy, Sinharaja, Kataragama and Yala.
Ahangama is less than 3 hours from Sir Lanka's main international airport, Bandaranaike in Columbo, via the newly constructed Southern Highway.

We highly recommend airport transfer which is by far the fastest and smoothest way of getting here. The transfer will cost 100€ and will take up to 4 people/Taxi, it will take 3 hours,

For the hardcore ones, you can make your own way by bus or train, it will be a bit more tricky though. You need to get either a Taxi or Tuk Tuk to Negombo, from there you take a bus to Matara followed by another bus to Ahangama or the train to Ahangama.

Please note bringing surfboard with you on bus, train might not be allowed or charged you extra for it.
