Douro Surf is a typical Portuguese building, completely renovated with surf soul and decor, relaxed and calm, perfect to chill after visit the city or go out to a party.
Douro Surf Hostel is a 3 floor building, each one with private kitchen and bathroom. We have 2 mixed dorms at all and 2 private rooms. In all the dorms you will have individual lockers and individual lights. We have also a common room where you can meet and mingle with other guests.
We have internet wireless free in every places of the hostel.
We have a luggage store where we can keep your luggage for free, even after checking out.

Douro Surf is a building situated in the historical Gaia to which includes the Douro landscape classified as a "World Heritage Site" to , surrounded by Porto Wine Cellars, just 2 minutes walk from the Douro river and the Dom Luis Bridge I.
It is a typical Portuguese building, completely renovated with surf soul and decor, relaxed and calm, perfect to chill after visit the city or go out to a party.
Our Hostel has great location, there is a Metro, Train, Bus and Taxi Station at less than 5 minutes walking.

This is a good surf spot in Porto for beginner and intermediates. Its a long 1km sandy beach with a few different points on it. The set up is a mix of beach break and reef break and parts of it are sheltered so it handles larger swell. Easy to get to and consistent.

The best time to surf Porto is between Spring through to Autumn. It's main surf beach is Matosinhos beach, the best surf spot in Porto for beginner and intermediates. Its a long 1km sandy beach with a few different points on it. The set up is a mix of beach break and reef break and parts of it are sheltered so it handles larger swell. Easy to get to and consistent.
Next to Matosinhos is International Beach. A lovely spot that begins where the city park ends. Its also a great learner spot, and a great place to hang out both during day and at night. Further north is Leca, a very consistent beach break protected by the harbour.
In and around the city there are small little beaches all worth exploring, particularly for the more advanced surfers wanting to discover the best Porto surf breaks.
There are more surf breaks further south including Barra do Porto and Miramar and then 20km south of Porto are the towns of Esphino and Esmoriz. Its arguably the North's most famous surf area and the beaches have a real nice surf culture. The area's 3 main beaches are Silvade, beach, Blue beach and Baia beach. A mix of sandy beach breaks and reef spots that suit beginner and advanced. Hang around and score some long barreling right & left handers all to yourself.

How did you like the accommodation?
Brilliant stay guys! Very homely and comfortable hostel with super well kept dorms and really nice views. The staff were great and make you feel really at home here, I hope to come back. If you want an amazing vibe and atmosphere come to Porto and stay in Douro!

Really great experience as a first time surfer, the staff were all very friendly and accommodating, and Manuel was an awesome instructor as well! Highly recommend this if you are visiting Porto!

Hostel très agréable, accueil chaleureux avec dégustation de Porto. Nous avons pris le dortoir 4 places qui ressemblait plus à un appartement privé. De plus, auberge très très bien placée à quelques foulées du pont. Bref .. très bonne surprise et on recommande tous sans exception :)

This is the best hostel I’ve stayed at. The staff are very helpful and want to do anything to make sure you have a great time in Porto. Family owned and they make you feel like you’re a part of the family. I will definitely be back.

Great place to stay. Rooms were clean. Location was nice because it wasn’t directly in Porto, but just across the river allowing us to still easily access everything we needed. Very close to cellars which was great! Chill vibe/atmosphere.
How were the surf lessons?
Great experience with Douro Surf! My trainer was a really nice surfer with 40 years of experience, who told a lot of stories, was really patient, explained everything step by step and I guess that the best proof of competence is the fact, that after the lesson I could stand on the boear and actually surf! :) It was a great fun, the price is nice, totally recommend! :) I will come back in the future for sure!
