Playa Grande is a small quiet community living on balance with environment where time fills tide and path of sun.
Our beach on pacific ocean is surrounded by tropical dry forest protect from Las Baulas National Park, 6 miles of withe sand where leatherback turtles lay their eggs.
Salt water estuary is full of life, natural habitats for birds, crocodiles and monkeys it is classic half day excursion to go see all of this.
Experienced surfer will love our spot just one to step away, here at the middle of the beach depending on swell and tide waves are more consistent, intermediate areas are only a small walk away.
Surf in Grande is best from December through April, when strong offshore winds bring optimal swell.
Grande is also perfect base camp to explore nearby Roca Bruja, Avellanas, Play Negra, Marbella, Ostional, Nosara, Camaronal, for ride all Guanacaste waves!

Our beachbreak is blessed with consistent wave that offer optimal surfing condition all year, the best ride from December till April when off shore wind blow from lake Nicaragua. Grande is also base camp to ride most famous Guanacaste wave, we organize tour with buddy to reach spot like Ollies's point, Witch rock, Negra, Avellanas, Marbella, Junquillal.

Surf Lessons we offer:
Kids Surf Lessons
We offer lessons for kids aged 6-12 , Each lessons is up 1.30 hours per day and include Surfborfd&Rushguard. We ask that parent are close by. We pick you up from your accommodation and take you to the beach safety and fun are our main priorities.
Beginner Surf Lessons
Our lessons are 1.30 hours and include Surfboard&Ruschguard. We pick you up from your accommodation and take you to the beach. Student ratio is 2.0. The beginner lessons are taught in waist deep water. You will learn everything from standing techniques to turning and finally paddling outside and learning how to catch 'green' (unbroken) waves. Kids lessons are available at this level.
Intermediate Surf Lessons
We will pick you up from your accommodation and take you to the best waves for your ability. Each exit include 3 hours surf board&rushguard. Max 2 student each teacher.
Surf Guide
We will your buddy for best nearby wave like Negra, Avellanas, Marbella, Junquillal. We take you from your accommodation to reach with our private shuttle 4x4 'MonkeyRover' nearby spot.
SUP Lessons
Pristine beach inside marine natural park will be your calm water scene for Stand Up Paddle session. We take you from your accommodation to reach with our private shuttle 4x4 'MonkeyRover' nearby beach for half or full day adventure.

The norther Pacific side of Costa Rica is best know for its fun waves rather than epic 10 foot advanced surf!
Air temperature in the north is the same year round 32°C. The seasons are divided in two: dry Season from December to April and wet season from May to November. Dry season is the busiest time for tourism in Costa Rica and they call it their summer.
Tamarindo is a year round surf destinations. The bigger swell season is from April to October. From December to March you tend to get smaller but clean 4 foot waves and is probably the best time to go. Wind is not usually a big factor but as with most places the morning will be best for glassy offshore conditions.
Surf beaches around Tamarindo
The main surf beach in the area is Playa Grande, a very consistent long beautiful beach break for intermediates. La Casita across the estuary is a fast beach break. El Estero is the fast rivermouth, great for longboarder surfers.
Surfing Tamarindo beach itself is great for all levels with Pico Pequeno & Pico Grande for more advanced. Further south is Playa Langosta, rocky underneath the surface and offering fun waves. Playa Avellanas is the most stunning beach in the area and suits all standards. One of Costa Roca's best. Playa Negra further south is an excellent right hand reef break over crystal clear water.

How did you like the accommodation?
Excellent place! The house is lovely - simple but very functional and charming. The staff is wonderful - laid-back, helpful, etc. Location 50m away from the beach and with simple amenities around is hard to beat!
How were the surf lessons?
The beach is amazing - quite challenging for my level but I loved the surfing! Aitor was our instructor. He was ok - perhaps could have given a bit more feedback.
