1. Peniche, Portugal 

Who: Advanced Surfers

Air Temperature: Around 16°C

Best Wave: Supertubos, arguably Portugal’s most famous wave. The WSL surf tour comes to Peniche every year and for good reason. Supertubos is one of Europe's most perfect beach break. The wave works best on a southwest swell and a north wind. If barrels are what you are looking for, Supertubos is the place! It's located on the South side of the Peniche peninsula . It is a very consistent wave in the winter making it one of the best places to surf in January and February.

2. Simeule Island, North Sumatra, Indonesia       

Who: Advanced Surfers

 None!

Best Wave:
Dylan’s Right. Probably the best wave on the island, a right hander that produces long powerful and hollow barrels. Simeule is one of the last uncrowded and undiscovered surf spots in the planet. Many waves are unknown and have not yet been named. A trip here is a trip of a lifetime, you will get more uncrowded waves than anywhere else. It's far far away but definitely one of the top places to surf in the new year.

3. Lanzarote, Canary Islands

Who: Intermediate Surfers

2-4mm
Air Temperature: 25°C

Best Wave: Playa de Famara. One of Lanzarote's most famous beach breaks, Famara beach is 6 kilometres long with plenty of different areas to choose from. Famara works with all tides, handles around 2-8ft surf, and is so spread out that there is always room for everyone to surf in its different peaks.

4. South Coast, Barbados

Who: Intermediate Surfer

Boardshorts and Rashvest
Air Temperature: 28°C

Best Wave: Freights. Located on the South Coast of Barbados, Freights is a Left hand Point Break. Perfect for Intermediate surfers. With the pristine crystal blue sea and the long peeling left hander, it is one of the best places to surf in early 2016?

5. Fuerteventura, Canary Islands.

Who: Beginner Surfer
Wetsuit needed:
2-4mm
Air Temperature: 25°C

Best Wave: Flag Beach. One of Fuerteventura's best learn to surf beaches.The beach has both left and right hand waves, making it a perfect wave for beginners. It is also a great beach for non-surfing partners to relax and take in the sun or explore the massive sand dunes.

6. South Coast, Barbados 

Who: Beginner Surfer
Wetsuit needed:
Boardshorts and Rash vest.
Air Temperature: 28°C

Best Wave: Surfers Point. Located on the beautiful South Cast of Barbados, this wave is perfect for beginners. Surfers Point is a fun long left bending into the bay. There are some rights too, with the emphasis on fun, easy rides, making it the ideal place to learn how to surf.
