When it comes to some of the best sundrenched surf destinations this September you only need to look at two locations: Portugal, and the Canary Islands. So make a point of booking that last minute holiday, and getting yourself surfing in the warm waters around Portugal, or in the hot sunshine of the Spanish Canary Islands at this month's favourite surf spots:

  • 1- Helios Resort, Ericeira

If you're looking for your own bungalow on the beach, where you can wake up to the sound of the waves, then Helios Resort is spot on. These self catered bungalows sleep up to 4 people, are located on Foz do Lizandro beach where you'll be surfing everyday, and even have yoga classes and massage treatments available on site if you feel like treating yourself.

  • Tip- The award winning surf town of Ericeira is easy to travel to, as it's only 30 minutes drive from Lisbon Airport.

  • 2- Zoopark, Lanzarote

Year round sunshine? Long golden sand beaches? Loads of consistent surf? Check. The Spanish Canary Island of Lanzarote is well known in Europe for being a great surf destination, especially in the Autumn and Winter months when the Atlantic swells push through. So it's all about location when it comes to Lanzarote- locating yourself at Zoopark Famara Surf House, which is ideal for solo surfers, couples, and groups.

  • Tip- Zoopark is only 100 metres from your surf beach and is located in the centre of Famara village, perfect for going out for a post surf drink or meal.

  • 3- Vila Gale, Lagos

When you're looking for a treat with some real luxury, you need to stay at the 4* Vila Gale Hotel in the Portuguese town of Lagos. Resting on the Algarve, this spectacular hotel has everything you could think of to really relax in between your surf sessions. Highlights of the hotel have to be Portugal's biggest outdoor swimming pool- 1000metres squared, and the chocolate therapy treatments available in the spa.

  • Tip- Vila Gale is located on Meia Praia beach, and only 7 minutes walk to the marina, and 15 minutes to the beautiful Old Town.
