Sami and the crew at Surfriders we’re brilliant and we loved the lessons.
Matadouro beach was hard work and a bit rocky- we had good rideable surf for 5 days out of 6

The surf part of the holiday was fantastic. We had the same instructor who cared and I think that made it special. The area could not have been better and the organising was up to date using whatsapp to talk and make any time changes. They got everyone to standup.

We are beginners on surfing and enjoyed the lessons and the crews at the beach of Ribeira d'Ilhash and the Activity Surf Center! The instructors are very nice and well organised at Ribeira d'Ilhas!

We had lessons with 'Surfriders'. English was spoken excellently and all of the equipment provided was new. Couldn't fault the quality of the teaching or the waves.

Catching a wave is the best feeling in the world and only a surfer knows the feeling, it’s the most fun you can have with your friends/ or even alone, it’s a magical experience,
Surfing is the perfect work out it makes you strong and healthy, surfing helps you to get allot of new friends across the world.

Excellent week getting taken to great spots - finding the waves when things were small and some shelter when things were big. Great coaching, hints and tips and generally hanging around!

Sami has only received 5 star reviews and there's a reason for that! I had the privilege of surfing with him a couple of weeks ago and he was always on time, was really nice and patient (that was needed ;)) and lets you do your thing, but is always there to help too. I've been lucky enough to only have good surfing instructors so far but Sami is by far my favourite! Really hope to meet you again dude! smile emoticon

My family recently took surfing lessons from Surf Riders. They work incredibly hard and always provided a first class service. They took considerable care of everyone learning to surf. Our two children were quite proficient at the end of 5 lessons. Neither my wife or I got very far, but this was due to other factors. The focus of lessons is getting from lying on the board to standing. The staff demonstrate a couple of techniques but when observing people who achieved it, most used their own modified methods, often going through a nealing stage. I think I would have done better if I hadn't tried so hard to follow the technique taught. My children both successfully used an entirely different movement. If I did this again I would just rent the board and wetsuit and play around to teach myself.

Surf lessons great for my family. I felt some instructors better than others in beginners, I could have done with more encouragement as I lacked confidence (and ability!). Very nice people tho.

Surf lessons good. Very friendly instructor. Waves weren't great so lots of paddling to catch them waves (Matadouro beach). Some rocks so need to be careful as tide goes out.

Lessons changed the game for me , the instructors were friendly and gave me confidence to surf bigger waves .
Beaches were amazing

The surf lessons were amazing! I got waves in the first day! I tried to learn before but it was successful as with surf riders! All equipment was completely new, wetsuit, board, shoes, everything in perfect condition. Sammy was really good instructor, he was all the time teaching me something new so I could improve a lot just in 3 days. We were only in one beach but it doesn't bother me coz praia do matadouro is such an amazing place!

The lessons were great. Expert surfers they may be, but these guys are teachers first and foremost. We were a group of eight and Sami and his team were amazing at identifying how each of us could improve. Their focus on the individual was remarkable. They turned up at our accommodation bang on time every time and had us kitted out and in the surf, with a minimum of fuss. Couldn't fault it. If you're looking for a great surf school, you've found it.

The children and husband had surf lessons every day with Sami and they absolutely LOVED IT! Sami and his team were simply fantastic, great fun and the kids improved greatly thanks to Sami and his team. His team were patient and attentive and made the whole experience brilliant!

We took surf lessons with Activity Surf Center, which meant we could meet them right outside the Villa each time, get out wetsuits and boards, and walk down the stairs to the beach.

The first day we were lucky that it was only me and our son with the teacher - but there were other schools out at the same time, so we didn't have the waves to ourselves. My husband and I took turns going in on different days so one of us could stay with our youngest child, and on some of the days our 11 year old son would join the lesson also.

We found the teachers to be knowledgeable, and patient, and they were able to cater for all different levels. They were good at going over the basics, and checking before we got in the water that we had our stance right, and did a warm up.

Everything 5 stars
