The surf villas are located in Caparica, is a very beautiful and calm neighborhood with cobblestone streets, where neighbors greet you on the streets. In 8 minutes on foot, you will be at the stunning beach of São João, where you can find one of our teaching locations.
We are divided into two houses, one next to the other, the Surfcamp and the Surf Camp Suites. Breakfast, dinner, events, and a bar are located in the Surfcamp, and the Surf Camp Suites are more relaxing. (Just with private rooms)
Location
Gota Dagua Surf Camp's base is located in Costa da Caparica and is only an 8 to minute walk away from the charming beach of São João. From there you can walk on the lively promenade which is a pure sports mekka. You will see people surfing, skating, biking, jogging, and doing workouts at a free outdoor gym just next to our surf school. Take one of our bikes or a skateboard and enjoy the view! In the center of Caparica, you can find surf shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, and cafes.
Heading south from Caparica and find around 30 km of beautiful white sandy beaches stretching along the coastline. The road will lead you to unspoiled natural beauty, authentic fisherman villages, lonely beaches, breathtaking cliffs, and natural parks. Heading north you will be in the heart of Lisbon within 15 minutes by car.
This gives us the perfect location between tranquility and vibrant capital.

Costa da Caparica has more than 50 km of Atlantic Ocean’s cost line with excellent waves all year round. In summer they reach from 0,5 m to 1,5 m and in winter as big as 2,5 m. Portuguese weather conditions allows you to surf all year long, because even in winter water temperature does not fall below 16 C. This is why surfers from around the world enjoy surfing in Portugal.

Gota D'Água Surf School offers activities specifically for children, which can be either for one-day or for a whole week. Our goal is to provide an unforgettable surf experience to every single student or a week full of activities, such as surf, bodyboard, climbing, tree climbing, pool, slackline and outdoor inflatables. All the activities are professionally and safely given.
Beginner Surf Lessons
Gota D'Água Surf School is located at three different beaches in Costa da Caparica (Praia do Tarquinio, Praia Nova and Praia de São João). There are private and group lessons for all surfing levels with all the equipment, transfer and insurance included.

Located north of Costa de Caparica and to the south of Cova do Vapor, the beach of São João da Caparica is largely sought out because of all kinds of conditions it has to offer. From world to class waves to amazing facilities to enjoy a perfect day at the beach, this beach has everything to please each of your desires. This is the beach where we have our Surfschool.

It is a beach break 15 minute south of costa da Caparica.With big swells it may provide epic sessions. It´s very popular with surfers in the surrounding region. Since it´s not very known it´s not very crowded.
Praia de Carcavelos
Level: All Levels
Carcavelos is one of the best beach breaks of Lisbon. It is an urban beach heavily crowded. Winter time is when surf is more consistent and tubular. However it has excellent conditions for surf lessons. During summer time is flat most of the times

Downtown Lisbon city itself does not have a beach and walking around siteseeing you may be oblivious to the fact that dozens of beautiful white sandy surf beaches are only a 5 minute car drive away (Or 4 train stops!)
The surrounding beaches pick up all the swells the Atlantic have to offer making it one of the most consistent surf destinations in the World.
The area has a good selection for all standards. Closest to the city would be Caxias & Santo Amaro de Oeiras. Caxias is a beautiful beach that on its day can produce perfect lefthander barrels. Oeiras is more of a winter wave and is one of the best waves in Portugal.
Next stop is Carcavelos, probably Portugal's most famous wave. Its one of the best beach breaks in Europe and regularly hosts National competitions. It suits all standards, a perfect place to learn and a great place to score some fast beach barrels with multiple peaks along the 1km stretch of beach.
There are many other spots along the coastline that runs from Lisbon out to Estoril & Cascais. Long boarders will love Sao Pedro and short boarders will thrive on spots like Poca and Sao Joao. Then on the other side of Cascais there is the stunning long white sandy Guincho beach, one of Portugal's most consistent surf spots, usually best in the morning as it can be exposed to afternoon onshore winds.
Across the river Tejo in Setubal, a 20 minute drive away, is the less crowded Costa de Caparica. Perfect for beginner/intermediates as the man made jetties create nice consistent waves. The beach stretches for 30kms and all of it is surfable!
Lisbon is also a great base to explore other regions. The surf mecca of Ericeira is only 35 minutes drive away and 1 hour north is Peniche, host of the WSL World Tour every October.

Can highly recommend! Great location, close to the beach (plus you can lend a bike) and some shops/cafés. Lisbon itself is easily reached by taxi/public transport. The food was very good & the breakfasts/dinners were well organized. Overall, the atmosphere was fun & easy going

There are a variety of villas in the town which were all great. It felt like home. There are options for private rooms and hostels for groups.
How were the surf lessons?
These guys went above and beyond to take care of me a first time surfer traveling alone. They made me feel like I was at home and hosted a fun time.

Hosts were really great, all roommates were very nice and cool - it felt like home. My wife and I had a great time at this place! We will probably come back in the near future.
How were the surf lessons?
Surfing turned out to be a lot harder then snowboarding :) But instructors were great and we progressed a lot! The beach was beautiful!

How did you like the accommodation?
The Gota D’Água surf lodge was absolutely fantastic, it had everything I needed and the staff were always smiling and Really helpful. The food was really nice and there were plenty of activities planned for the guests. The garden has a cool lounge area with a very-reasonably priced bar, with ping pong and foosball tables. The vibe was so friendly and it felt like one big family. One of the best holidays in recent memory. Highly recommended.
How were the surf lessons?
The surf instructors were all great! Really funny and talented guys. When the waves got better, the owner, Ricardo organised one on one coaching with a local pro, who really helped improve my surfing, giving me tips and sharing techniques to make me surf better. This was so, so useful, as I had picked up a lot of bad habits over the years.

How did you like the accommodation?
So I loved the accommodation, nothing special but everything was clean. Nice chill area outside and in. Maybe lacking an extra bathroom but it caused no problems when I was there.
The area was residential but we always drove like 10 minutes on the evening to a restraunt or bar with everyone there and have a good evening.
The beach is about 10mins walk and the surf shop is and extra 10 but we normally hopped in the van they own every morning to get there which makes life easy.
How were the surf lessons?
Surf lessons where really good and they show you all you need to know and have good tips for all level learners.
Beech had a good surf every day, and varied in size with both good wash breaks for first time and green waves for more advanced surfers.
Weekends are a busy time, so just be a bit more observative of catching waves with others and people riding hard boards.

How did you like the accommodation?
We stayed in a dorm style room with bunk beds. Our roommates were so nice and we had no problems. Everyone who worked at the hostel was also very friendly and really wanted everyone to be included in activies. There was things to do every day including surf lessons, bbqs and trips to a beautiful beach. We’re staying at other hostels and miss the vibe of this place. This was our first hostel experience and we were very pleased.
There are just a few restaurants around and a grocery store about 10 min walk away. Beach 20 min.
How were the surf lessons?
I’ve surfed before but am still a beginner. I’ve taken a couple lessons and still learned more from these instructors. I really liked one instructor but can’t remember his name. But they all were helpful. It’s summer and the waves were not too big but decent. Morning time sucked but the afternoon brought some heat. Had a really good time.

How did you like the accommodation?
The accomodation was clean and the basic equipment was available. The Kitchen was usable for everyone.
It was a very quit area around the accommodation, which was sometimes for us a problem, if we stayed up late.
The town was good reachable, with public transport or taxi. Everything you wanted to visit, like Grocery Stores, Dinners, restaurants and the beach was within a 30min foot walk.
How were the surf lessons?
The surf lessons looked really professional to me. You got your wetsuit and suited board, for your technical experience.
We started with a warm up, for every lesson, which really worked for all ares you needed. The instructions for the Stand up technic, were teached well.
The instructors also supported you for training of timing and sometimes pushed you, so that it wa easier to catch the wave.
The beaches were really wonderful. For me as a beginner the waves hight were perfect. The only bad thing was the changing of the beachs characteristics changed through the high and low tide very much.

The Surfcamp was very nice, clean and comfortable. The staff was amazing and always available to help any time. Near by, exists 2 restaurants, supermarket and some shops in walking distance. I love this camp so I m going there next year !!
How were the surf lessons?
I took surf lessons while I stayed and was top. The teachers were top. They explain very good and have a lot of patient to help everybody. Our lesson was in São João da Caparica, a beach break on front of the camp. The view is beautiful.

This place is amazing!
Ricardo and the rest of the team rock, they do everything to make you feel relaxed, welcome and like a friend or a part of the family, and not just some tourist. If you need help with getting somewhere or some advice, you get it on the spot.
We stayed for 6 nights, and every day there was some new activity to try (BBQ, yoga, trips), so it's awesome if you're not sure of what you want to do during your stay.
The location is convenient (close to some eating places, shop, etc.) but it's also very quiet, so you can really sleep well. It's very close to the ocean/beach, too, so you can hear the waves. :)
You will definitely want to come back if you stay here once, so try it. :)

How did you like the accommodation?
Ricardo, Gonzalo and the rest of the staff are amazing. They make you feel like family and provide services accordingly. Pickups, dropoffs or an amazing bbq: it will al be taken care off by this amazing friendly staff. They really do all they can to make your Costa Caparica trip a real holiday. Me and my friend stayed for 7 nights and we experienced a real surfing vibe. Relaxed, free and good conversations. The surfschool is also really good. On the last day Ricardo even brought us to the lookout over the bay and Lisbon to have a beer there. Great stuff :)
