Our self catering apartments are part of an traditional to portuguese renovated farmhouse to the Quinta Formosinho. Authentic Algarve feeling to just 7 minutes from the ocean to with green surroundings within the Luz valley, big pool & garden, private children’s playground & table tennis. For hungry nights there is the BBQ, for privacy you have your own terrace. For the cosy winter time we provide wood for our inlay oven.
There are 4 apartments, all self to catering. Two of them are 1 bedroom apartments (T1's) for max. 4 persons, the other two are 2 bedroom apartments (T2's) for max. 6 Persons. So the apartments are ideal for guests that want to combine beach holidays with surfing, climbing and other activities.
Upon request we offer surf lessons for all ages and levels. We especially focus on active families. So we have special packages, combining accommodation with our Kids & Family Surf School, suitable for 6 +, to learn a new sport in a fun and safe way. For more fun & action we also offer yoga & pilates as well as climbing for beginners, right by the sea and beaches or inland.
Location
Praia da Luz is a small beach town with a stunning and perfectly accessible om our apartments it is just a 7 minute walk to the sea as well as downtown to supermarkets, cafés and restaurants. Luz is only 10 km away from vibrating Lagos and in the middle of the Algarve with a huge number of different surf spots to there is something for every swell condition.
From our Quinta Formosinho you have a great view over Luz valley with many possibilities of hikes nearby. If you just want to stay in the apartment complex wander through the big garden through orange, lemon, medronho & fig trees or visit the chickens and pigs. If you do feel more like relaxing, splash in the big pool or lay down in the shade underneath an umbrella or a big pine tree.

Our Kids & Family Surf School in the Algarve is the perfect place for your family surf vacation in Lagos and around.
Your kids from 6+ or even the whole family can learn to surf in our surf classes. We make sure to bring your little ones and you into contact with this exciting sport in a safe and fun way. We provide a small ratio 1:4 if just Kids are on the beach.

Surf Lessons often occur at the areas best and most reliable surf beaches, Praia do Amado and Praia do Amoreira, 20-30 minutes from Lagos. Depending on conditions you may surf at any number of surf beaches nearby such as Maia Praia, Castalejo, Arrifana, Zavial, Cabanas and Porto de Mos. Either way the surf schools will pick you up and take you to the best beaches on the day.
Don't worry if you have no experience whatsoever. The beginner's lessons are taught in waist deep water riding the white water only. You will learn everything from standing techniques to turning and finally paddling outside and learning how to catch ‘green' (unbroken) waves. If you are already experienced the instructors will take you further out and help you develop your technique on bigger waves.
Lagos is a year round surf destination thanks to its position at the corner of the Algarve. It is one of Europe’s best kept secrets and offers waves for beginners, intermediates and expert surfers. It also has the warmest water in Portugal and the winter temperature is warm enough for t-shirts. In the summer the temperature is in the late 20s and stay bright until 10pm.
Within Lagos is the town's long golden sandy beach that seems to go on forever, Meia Praia, a very safe beginners surf beach, but not always reliable.
Further Afield
Head further West and after 20 minutes you arrive at a crossroad, take the turn South West and after a few minutes you reach the laid back surf town of Sagres where you will find breaks such as Tonel, Mareta, Beliche and Zavial. Again different standards are catered for in these beaches that wrap around Cape St.Vincent
Alternatively take the right turn and after 10 minutes you will reach a great beginners /intermediate surf beach Praia do Amado. Close by is one of Portugal’s most beautiful beaches Praia da Bordeira. Further North is the world class surf break in Arrifana and beginners beach Amoreira. The UK's Independent newspaper sums it up best: "Here is one of Europe's undiscovered treasures - thankfully protected by a 120km-long Parque Natural, which helps ensure that "tourist development" mostly means a café in a shack on a beach. It all seems like a fabulous secret, shared only by the intrepid few who make it this far. Their reward? Having miles and miles of these dramatic beaches (almost) to themselves."

Accommodation was great, only one small issue with having to get up early on a Sunday morning to make way for the cleaning lady at 10am.!

How did you like the accommodation?
Our maisonette was very nicely laid out, clean and plenty of space for 4 of us. We enjoyed chilling in the pool, the bright rooms and access to facilities like cooking and laundry. The local restaurants were within walking distance and all had amazing food let alone being reasonably priced. The hosts were fantastic and always reachable. You might want to rent a car but we got in quite alright without one as we had a ride to surf class each day and walked to the local town when we needed to go. All in all, I thoroughly recommend and would return.
How were the surf lessons?
The instructors were great; my kids certainly learned a thing or three. The surf beaches were like you have never seen..and definitely not crowded which was great. Some even had access to WiFi which is necessary for UK travellers. The weather was warm so making it all round ideal. Portugal is an amazing country.

Oktober - Herbstferien.
Tolle Lage - Luz zu Fuss erreichbar, Bâcker etc. alles in der Nähe. Waren mit 2.5 und 4.5 Jahre alten Kindern dort. Pool ist eingezäunt und sicher, ansonsten Areal gut einsehbar. Kinder können toben und verstecken spielen.
Strände sind in der Nähe. Je nach Windrichtung (wenn da) muss man etwas fahren aber es gibt immer einen Strand der geschützt ist.
Surf und Kletterkruse sind zu empfehelen, das Personal vor Ort weiss immer wo etwas zu holen ist.
